This is the first of 3 MTP "Mondo" mods that will fully replace the game's default Commercial Service Lots with Mountainous/Rural versions designed for the MTP Theme. Every game-default low wealth Commercial Service lot has been modified or replaced with MTP styled lots and buildings. Similar to a new tile set, this mod goes beyond by actually changing the appearance of the lots as well and giving your game a completely different look. The complete Residential Replacement Mod has already been released. The Commercial Service medium and high wealth versions of this mod will be released shortly. The Commercial Office Replacement mods are under development... and the Industrial Replacement mods will follow those soon after.
Like SimMars, the MTP is a full, new Theme for your game. And with the new Start-Up Manager, playing multiple themes is no longer a nasty chore of having to manually rename and remove files & folders. That means you can easily switch between your normal cities and regions and any new Theme, like the MTP. The MTP is being released in bits & pieces as they become available. This will allow you to easily choose which components to install or not. You also will not have to wait until the entire theme is complete in order to enjoy it. In its entirety, the MTP Theme will completely change the appearance of your game as well as how you play it. To conserve game resources, game-default props and buildings have been re-used wherever possible, Still, scores of new props & textures and no less than 13 new, custom commercial buildings have been included in this mod. In total, the mod includes 150 new Commercial Service lots that replace the game-default lots.

| INSTALLATION |
| If installing from the ZIP archive, unzip the file to your C:\My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins folder making sure that the "Use Folder Names" option is selected. The product will be installed in a ZZZ-MTP folder in your Plugins. You are strongly advised to use this default folder. The folder will be created if it does not already exist on your system. Once installed, the product will be ready to use in your game. |

This mod installs into the ZZZ-MTP folder in your Plugins
folder. The folder has that particular name and location to ensure that no
other mods are read-in by the game after this mod and overwrite it. Important Note - This mod replaces the game's default residential lots. This means that if you use it on an existing city, you will need to bulldoze all of the CS$ lots and allow them to re-grow. Otherwise, the existing lots will look quite strange with a combination of old props and new textures. Also, depending on what buildings are in the existing city, the old city my fail to load with this mod installed. You would then need to bulldoze the CS$ lots in the city before installing the mod, then save the city, install the mod, and reload the city.
PLAYING WITH MULTIPLE THEMES 1. Probably the most straight forward method is to have all the contents of the custom theme stored in a single folder within your Plugins folder (like these mods)... and just move that folder in or out of your Plugins folder to switch between the custom theme and default game play. When you do not wish to play a default city or region, simply drag the theme's folder out to the Desktop. When you want to play the theme, drag the folder back into the Plugins folder. The main benefit of this method is that you can have multiple themed cities within the same region. The downside is that you have to manually move the folder before starting the game and make sure it is installed, or not, for the city/region you are about to play.
2. Using the new Startup Manager program automates the file moving process. Instead off starting the game, you run the Startup Manager program. It allows you to quickly select one of many pre-defined regions... then starts the game automatically with that region and any lots/mods you have defined that should be loaded with that region. The main benefit of this method is that the process is automated & you only have to run the Startup Manager (instead of starting the game directly) when you want to play a different region from the last one you played. The downside is that you have use the program to pre-define all the regions and which lots/mods to load in with each region. If also only works for separate regions; you currently can not use the program to play differently themed cities within the same region.
Either method is quite simple to do. And both are easily worth the minimal effort to add so much new variety to your game play. |
